De-Ice’s Vicky Lopez gears herself up for the MoonWalk
On 10th May, local Essex business woman, Vicky Lopez, will be donning her trainers (and decorated bra) to walk the Moonwalk – a 26-mile overnight power walking marathon to raise money for breast cancer awareness charities.
Approximately 15,000 women (and some men) dressed in the Moonwalk brightly decorated bras will follow routes around the streets of London to do the MoonWalk London, in which they will complete a total of 26.2 miles. Vicky Lopez, co-founder and director of local business, De-Ice (www.de-ice.co.uk), one of the UK’s longest-established and leading winter gritting and snow clearance specialists will be taking part in the gruelling challenge.
Vicky comments: “I have wanted to take part in the MoonWalk for some years now. One in eight of us will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point of our lives. 80 per cent of us will survive beyond five years of being diagnosed because of the advances in research, medicine and awareness. It is because of charity walks such as these that the much needed money is raised.
I’m so proud to be doing this walk in aid of such a wonderful and worthwhile charity.
“I know this is going to be one of the toughest challenges I’ve ever undertaken. I’ve done my training, along with a great group of people who I’ll be walking with on the night.”
Walk the Walk is a grant making charity committed to raising funds and awareness for vital breast cancer causes. Organisations like Breast Cancer Campaign have benefitted for a number of years from their generous support.
